WILLIAM A. HART, of W. A. Hart & Son, dealers in agricultural implements.
Among the business men of long and excellent standing in Callaway county is
Mr. Hart, the subject of the present sketch. He has been engaged in business
pursuits in Callaway since 1878, now over five years, and has established for
himself an enviable reputation for fair dealing and correct methods of doing
business. He was first in the hardware business, but afterwards sold out and
engaged in the agricultural implement business and in grain raising, which he
has since followed. He carries an excellent stock of goods in his line and has
a large and steadily increasing trade. Mr. Hart is a native of the county, and
was born April 18, 1838. He was reared on his father’s farm and received
a good common school education. On the 31st of October, 1860, he was married
to Miss Mary J. McIntire, of this county, born April 15, 1843. They have been
blessed with six children: William E., the junior member of the present business
firm, Sidney S., Julia E., Nannie M., Mattie B. and Robert M. Mr. Hart followed
stock raising up to 1868, in which he was very successful. He has long been
a member of the Masonic order and of the M. E. Church South. No man in Fulton
is more universally respected.
