JOSEPH L. CRAIG

JOSEPH L. CRAIG, was born in Mason, now Putnam county, Virginia, July 26, 1830, and came, when four years old, and settled at Nine Mile Prairie, in Callaway county. In 1850 he went to California, and returned fairly successful in 1851. April 9, 1856, he married Miss Mary E., sister of Colonel J. F. Jones. She was born in Callaway county, August 15, 1831. He occupies 400 acres, rented from the Jones' estate, where he farms and handles stock to quite a considerable extent. He was an assessor at one time for the northern district. A family of nine children are [sic] living at home, but one, viz.: Charles H., Emma, wife of William H. Hill, living in Chariton county; Jennie A., Stonewall J., Mary Kate, Albert Sidney, George E., Lena R., and Joseph Franklin. Mrs. Craig is a member of the Christian church, and he of the M. E. Church South. He is also a Mason.
